Slumdog Millionaire - The Pooch on Hooch

A.R.Rahman, the Music Director, is waken up by a phone call from Danny Boyle, the Director of “Slumdog Millionaire”. Danny Boy, as he is fondly referred to, tells Rahman that “Slumdog Millionaire” has been nominated for Oscars under nine different categories. Rahman, known for his utter humility, says “Masha Allah”. Danny Boy hangs up the phone.

Danny Boy is perplexed. How did this movie get nominated under nine different categories? Not even in his wildest dreams, Danny Boy could dream about sticking his head inside a Pomeranian’s arse with an Oscar in his hand. How did this unbelievable thing happen?

While, the sissies in India are celebrating the Oscar nomination of “Slumdog Millionaire”, Danny Boy is totally clueless on how his fun project took Golden Globe Awards and Oscar Nomination by storm. Danny Boy tried all the tricks that he borrowed by watching Bollywood DVDs and with some help of fermented “feni” that he enjoyed during his breaks at Anjuna, Goa.

Danny Boy is believed to be in a state of shock on what was supposed to be fast paced, masala laced, emotion-subdued, self-deprecating dark humour that went on to grab one too many Golden Globe Awards. Danny Boy is now being bugged by out-of-market Bollywood Actors like Mithun Chakraborthy, Shatrughan Sinha, Govinda et al. to be cast as heroes in his next venture.

On watching the “Slumdog Millionaire” premiere at Chennai, veteran Tamil Director, Bharathiraja quoted “இதைதான் நான் அப்போவே அலைகள் ஓய்வதில்லை ல எடுத்தேன். என்ன இது city based ஸ்டோரி”. On watching the movie, Prabhu Deva is supposed to have suggested a slightly modified storyline with mass elements with actor Vijay in the lead.

We then checked with veteran Perumal Kovil Beggar, “white rice” Ramasamy. Ramasamy greeted us with a bit of skeptism - “என்ன இந்த பக்கம் ஆளையே காணோம்?”. We asked him about his opinion on “Slumdog Millionaire”. Ramasamy sarcastically replied that he was willing to finance if Martin Scorcese agreed to do a movie about the Madurai Mafia.
