In recent times, I have thoroughly enjoyed two “good guys – bad guys” movies. One, Serpico and the other, Tropa de Elite.
Serpico, released in 1973 is about an honest cop trying to keep his integrity in an otherwise Corrupt NYPD and trying to throw light on the degrading practice within his department. He is eventually posted to Narcotics where his Superiors hope that he is killed in the line of duty. He survives a close call to his life to depose before a Commission that investigates his charges against corruption in the Department. Eventually he immigrates to Switzerland.
Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad) is all about corrupt policemen that patrol the drug infested slums of Rio de Janeiro, and the contrasting profile of BOPE (Special Protection Operation Battalion). The movie is narrated from a first person perspective – Captain Nascimento, Captain of Alpha Forces (BOPE). It tries to bring to light the pervasiveness of corruption in the Police department, the class divide, and “what it takes to be a BOPE Officer to fight the war against drug dealers”. I was quite impressed on the realistic portrayal and Director, José Padilha certainly requires an appreciation. This movie kicks ass!

Prasanna,
You are doing a commendable job on your blog. Went though the whole blog in the last few days.
BTW, how do you get access to these movies at Madurai?
@Arvind
Dude. The more you seek, the more you get. Surprisingly we get good collections at Madurai. More at Pondichery. It is a day-time burglary at Chennai.
