Shivraj Patil, who recently resigned as Home Minister from the ruling Coalition, admitted that he made a blunder by terming the whole “Mumbai Attack” as a drill for the Nation’s security force. This statement had raised many eyebrows at the Congress high command that they weren’t intimated priorly before such a drill. Manmohan and other senior Congressmen were livid with the fact that how a senior leader like Shivraj can order such a drill without proper notice?
When quizzed further, Shivraj Patil clarified that the drill comprising of several stages, had actually gone out of control during later stages. He never expected it to expose the Nation’s security lapse. He was also surprised by the unmitigated media attention that “the drill” obtained. Finally, when asked about his post-resignation plans, Mr. Shivraj Patil told Reporters that he now has more time to spend on wardrobe shopping and get the thought of Nation away from his head.
Gaffe is something that is not new to Shivraj Patil as he was earlier critized by the Press for changing his costume three times in three hours after the Delhi Blasts. At that time he walked away saying “wardrobe malfunction”.
On hearing this, veteran Perumal Kovil Begger “white rice” Ramasamy says “…may be Mr. Patil should watch less Super Bowl and care more about native bowls” (read: திருவோடு).
