The beauty about life is its *unpredictability*. The unpredictability of relationship, job, markets, weather etc.
If life was so predictable, i think it would be utterly boring. How do you handle yourself gracefully in situations of failure? How do you learn to recompose yourself after a relationship that didn’t work out the way you intended? Sure, we do have our own ways of handling such a situation. It exemplifies our character.
There are some that are in constant pursuit of their identity to be as “what they are” while others involuntarily wrap an identity that their immediate circle expects them to be. The latter is commonly noticeable in “community centric” societies where as the former dominates in “individual centric societies”. Being the former in community centric societies is quite a challenge in itself. The worst thing that you ever do is justify your action to someone.
If I thought teenage was quite a challenging phase, ten years past my teenage - seems even more challenging. To remain single either voluntarily or involuntarily really takes its toll, especially in a complex society with simple individuals. The constant question arises. There is a sizeable number of characters sitting in my head. Each suggesting something that they identify with.
Alter-ego 1: Dude..get married..make your Parents happy and build your own social circle
Alter-ego 2: Do you really want to get married? Are you ready for the kind of social expectations that it would bring upon in your life? Are you ready for a personality change and related adjustments?
Alter-ego 3: Why don’t you consciously put an effort to find your own partner?
Alter-ego 4: Fuck off! This whole marriage thing is a social protocol with undue expectations from a ritualistic society. Why register a marriage? If love is *unconditional* do we need to register it with an establishment?
Why so much thought is centered around the topic of marriage? (I’m kicking myself here). I’m pretty sure “no man is an island”. He is a social animal. Is the set of predetermined events based on historical data driving me nuts on this issue? If memory is such a time-machine then why can’t I visit periods of favourable outcome - as per the normative society? May be I’m missing the key…somewhere, somehow.
