I think what Assange did was completely phenomenal! He had the guts to take the mightiest and shake the very foundation of false democracy and what the western powers were preaching in other parts (read: oil or natural resource rich parts) of the world. Rather than facing the reality of the leaks, US decided to wage a State sponsored terrorism to financially throttle Wikileaks. Pretty much all major US financial institutions (including Bank of America, VISA) have embargoed Wikileaks…what about the credibility of Bank of America? A bank that has been caught in subprime crisis and for its unethical practices…on what moral standpoint does Bank of America comply with the US State department and brand Wikileaks as an Organization who’s policies do NOT comply with that of Bank of America (link)?
Thats right…Wikileaks didn’t go around and steal people’s money in the name of selling complex derivative or housing loans in an hyper inflated real estate market. All wikileaks did was to open up to the entire world on what the major proponent of Democracy and Liberty is actually doing behind the scenes. Pretty much everything from the Arab Spring Uprising to Occupy Wall Street have lots of elements in common. Everyone is angry and pretty much they are frustrated with the corruption of Institutions on which they had reposed faith (for several years).
Rather than taking efforts to bring in regulation to prevent financial irregularities and make the world a better fair trade place, the powerful Governments have been borrowing money at unbelievable rates just to hide their inflation and temporarily plug several structural leaks…The irony is…the hard earned money saved by middle class folks or the working class is of little to no use in their years of retirement. Money holds no value…that is as simple as that…and the people that hate the word “regulation” need you to spend your money to the fullest extent!
It is organizations like the Wikileaks and people like those of “Occupy Wall Street” that try to confront the corresponding Institutions with the gross amount of irregularities in what they preach and what they practice. As noticed from Gaddafi’s death…I can tell you onething…it is not easy to be a dictator or a underworld don. Do not mistake me for trying to eulogize the dead. State sponsored terrorist organizations like the CIA are known to install puppet governments and disrupt peace in several parts of lesser developed world. As a dictator or underworld don, the proxies should tread a fine line of balancing between materialistic demand of their external powers and conservative viewpoints of local religious clerics. Some dictators take to the extent of communism and ban religious worships – altogether.
Anyways…such is the irony that we live in….Support wikileaks if you can!
