A refreshing tamil movie in recent times! Director M.Saravanan and Producer A.R.Murugadoss should be lauded for conveying a subtle yet important message on road safety (that is absolutely lagging in India) and organ donation.
I cannot count the days that I had complained about lack of concern for fellow drivers. It is quite appalling considering the economic boom in India (with rapid proliferation of vehicles sans the driving courtesy) and the opening of four lane highways. The movie wins you over by its sheer simplicity and presentation format. You can connect easily with the main characters as well as other characters in the movie. The camera work requires a special mention considering the fact that many shots have been taken in crowded areas. It gives you a feeling that the camera man camouflaged himself in the crowd and just took you on a ride through the contemporary settings of Chennai and Trichy. Sathya, the Music director also deserves a pat on his back.
I would heartily recommend this movie to anyone sane. Especially, the characterization of Manimegalai (portrayed by Anjali) is a welcome change and also the character played by Jai. Hats off to this generation of Directors and actors that are willing to break stereotypes. I would rate this movie highly along the lines of Mynaa as it leaves a mark in the minds of movie goers.
It is a shame that I couldn’t watch such a piece of good work at Cinemas and had to wait for a good quality DVD print from Lotus.
Cheers to the entire team!
P.S: The graphics in the accident scene reminds me of the inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof” accident scene. In reality, it is quite gory to go through the mangled remains in an accident spot. Though the characters pass away in the accident, they still remain in the minds of the viewers – this is where the Director succeeds! In a nutshell, the movie sums up life and death in the least melodramatic way and wins you over!
