KL Diaries

I found the Immigration folks at Phnom Penh Airport to be quite discriminative. I am not sure if they delayed my departure stamping because I held an Indian Passport? That is what I keep saying people. The American Visa on my Indian Passport holds more value than the Passport itself. Such is life and that is how it works in discriminative Asian Countries. In spite of their communal values, Asians have a tendency to discriminate within their own clan as well as other clans. I should not overlook the silly behaviour of fellow Tamils while travelling along the Malaysian route. I have noticed this behaviour of them while taking the Gulf as well as the Sri Lankan route.

They behave like a bunch of school children with complete disregard for the on-board Stewardess’s repeated request to refrain from moving around when the seat-belt safety sign is ON. A rant on this is not worth at all. BTW, on my night layover at Kuala Lumpur, I did notice quite a handful of Hostels for Backpackers at Pasar Central (Central Market). So, if you are planning a short term or long term stay at the Kuala Lumpur city, I would recommend you to take the to-and-fro shuttle service from the LCCT terminal to KL-Sentral Station. From the Sentral Station, take the metro transit to Central Market. In the area around Petaling Street, you can find a lot of budget accommodations. I would recommend Pudu Hostel (located in 3rd Floor) opposite to Pudu Raya Bus Station.

The other ones like, Red Dragon Hostel, Grocer’s Inn and The Original Backpacker’s Travellers Inn are located closeby the Petaling Street (on Jalan Sultan). There are other medium range to high range Hotels as well in the Chinatown. The streets buzzle with activity in to the wee hours. So, you get reasonably priced Chinese and Malay food as well. There are quite a number of Tamil folks that run small businesses and ride Taxis. So, I suppose, if you are from Tamil Nadu, you will very well feel at home.

After a 18 day vacation, I am finally back at home. I have to catch up with some work as well as take time to post process some snaps. Let me post a link to the snaps - once they are available.
