I actually met a victim of Khmer Rouge Brutality at Sorya Mall. He was 15 years old when the Khmer Army invaded Phnom Penh and decided to clease the City dwellers. He lost his parents and sister in the insanity. Later he fled to the Thai border and then moved to the United States of America in the early 80s. Now he is a naturalized Citizen and has adopted two kids from Nepal. It was great to see him and his family. He was visiting Cambodia to spend time in his village (where he owns a farm house). It was kind of very coincidental as I had earlier paid a visit to the S-21 prison.
BTW, there are quite a handful of Indian Restuarants out here in Phnom Penh. In fact there are about ten and a South Indian restaurant, Dosa Corner, is located quite close to Wat Lan Ka. It happens to be at a stone’s throw from the guesthouse that I stay. Kind of funny to note and interact with folks from my State. There is a small Indian community out here as well. Apart from the community over here, I also noticed some in the Central Indonesian City of Jogja. Mostly they were in to business and were of Punjabi origin.
