Thought, I would come up with a compilation of statistics per Olympics Discipline and the Countries that have dominated it since their inception. Here is a set of five images. If you are creative enough, you can correlate something from History on the performance. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the gender wise contribution to these final medals standing.
NOTE: The statistics lists out Disciplines and the Countries in top three position. This is decided by the number of gold medals won by each Country under the Discipline. This includes data from 1896 till 2004 Olympics. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get data about old Communist blocks like the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia etc. You are welcome to share this image.
